Appliance Tips
Refrigerators
Make sure you’re keeping your condenser clean with a vacuum or appliance brush at least twice a year. This will keep your refrigerator cooler and keep it from running constantly, which increases efficiency and saves you money
Washers
If your washer is producing too many suds, it can cause leaking. To fix this for your next load, add a cup of white vinegar to the wash and run an empty cycle. Also, be sure to use a low suds laundry detergent. To avoid thinning and bursting water hoses, install stainless steel hoses that are guaranteed not to burst
Dryers
Be sure you’re cleaning your vent with a vacuum at least twice a year to prevent a fire. Vent hoses should be kept as short and straight as possible. Keep your lint filter as clean as possible to increase the efficiency of your dryer
Dishwashers
Remove scraps and rinse all your dishes. Keep your water set to 140 degrees to keep your dishes clean. Be sure to run a CLR (calcium, lime, and rust remover) at least twice a year to remove deposits that build up in the spray arm and to keep your dishwasher running efficiently
Garbage disposals
To keep the blades of your disposal sharp, drop several ice cubes into the unit and run it. Drop some lemon or orange peels in with the ice cubes to deodorize while you sharpen
Water heaters
